All of us in our tiny parish on top of the hill at the end of Halleluiah Row that overlooks the great freshwater sea Michigan know by now the harrowing and horror story of one of our own.
Not to diminish what happened because it hit us all deeply, reminding us that large parts of the world and even in our own, anarchy is expanding.
It was my Dad’s greatest fear, that we would descend into thus.
While that story does indeed ‘take the cake’ as far as our parish and the family concerned, in no way do I want to diminish it, and never will.
To me the bottom lime was, that faith saved this person.
I rarely read the news anymore. It is no longer news but someone’s spin on the real truth. But I catch enough headlines to realize that the state of the world and our country, in particular, is at great peril. Our own ‘little’ story exemplifies this.
So, what does one of us do? We are but one person. But we forget we are created in the Image and Likeness of our Creator. This being an absolute truth, if we have faith, nothing is impossible with Him. Our own parish story proves this without a doubt.
We all have our own trials and tribulations. Adding in the world around us and what is happening tests us like no other time in our short history as His Images.
I beseech all of us to do the one thing we can do, any one of us can do it. We can do it all the time.
We can pray. Ceaselessly. As we wake, as we work, as we do anything throughout the day, we can keep our mind centered on our Creator, His Most Precious Son, and His Omnipresent Spirit.
He is ALWAYS with us, whether we believe it, feel it, know it or realize it. He is ALWAYS there by our side.
Pray for us. Pray for each other. Pray for our families, friends, country and the greater wide world, now oh so small, thanks to the pervasiveness of technology.
Pray. Pray. Pray.
In doing so, we follow the two key command our Wonderful Counselor and Savior left us.
Love Him.
Love everyone created in His Image and likeness.
