I do not know much about this place.
Yet.
But there is a certainty that His creation is in constant and glorious motion. From the rain forests, and their moderate height in comparison to the giant sentinels who have been and could again be…
Mountains of fire…
… the Cascades and their King, Rainier which ascends to 14,410 feet above sea level, Mount Rainier stands as an icon in the Washington landscape. An active volcano, Mount Rainier is the most glaciated peak in the contiguous U.S.A., spawning five major rivers. Subalpine wildflower meadows ring the icy volcano while ancient forest cloaks Mount Rainier’s lower slopes. Wildlife abounds in the park’s ecosystems. A lifetime of discovery awaits. (From the National Park Service.), to the other three sentinels Baker, Helens, and Hood whose volcanic peaks stand double or more than the peaks around them.
Then there is the majesty of the Ponderosa Pines that are almost everywhere, to the countless creeks, rivers and streams teeming with cutthroat trout, rainbows, steelhead and so many more of His creatures who breathe water.
I feel like I am in some sort of natural cocoon, Mom Nature enveloping me with all her wonders.
I took a walk yesterday, the Third Sunday of Advent, to look for some more greens to freshen the advent wreath. Bunches and bunches of wild holly bushes were an unbelievable surprise and cedar trees so green and fresh they were surreal.
Then there are the trees with green ‘hair’!
I am constantly amazed at His Creation and now I live in a hotspot (literal in the case of the hot springs) of such wonder and glory a drive to the store takes your breath away.
It was a tough two thousand three hundred and forty seven mile trip to get here but even though I have not scraped even a teaspoon off a glacier (yup, we still have a few) regarding all there is out here, I am humbled by what He gives us.
Thank you, Lord for all Your natural majesty. I will make sure to let you know of my gratitude for it and You every day.
It’s the least I can do along with following Your two greatest commandments…
1. Love you.
2. Love everybody else created in Your Image and Likeness regardless of color, race or creed.
Amen
