I woke very early this morning. Sleep is interesting of late. We decided to take a ‘retreat’ after dealing with the aftereffects of my only sibling, sister, and greatest confidant’s Greatest Leap.
So, we headed to the ocean, found a spot right on a wide beach that one can drive on. At this early hour, though the corona of the dawn already passed, the clammers are already hard at work harvesting clams as the tide goes out. I was treated to a full moon hovering over the greatest of waters.
The moon is full and will soon sink into the ‘peaceful’ ocean, otherwise known as the Pacific. I have seen many rises of old Sol off the east coast of Florida and the sunsets off the west coast of ‘the County’, the Leelanau, the little finger of Michigan. Never the Pacific.
But watching the sun sink last night, emitting smoke as it hit the water, and then the full moon this morning doing the same, I was struck AGAIN by the awesomeness of our Creator.
In the beginning, when God created the heavens and the earth and the earth was without form or shape, with darkness over the abyss and a mighty wind sweeping over the water
Then God said: Let there be light, and there was light. God saw that the light was good. God then separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” Evening came, and morning followed—the first day.*
Then God said: Let there be lights in the dome of the sky, to separate day from night. Let them mark the seasons, the days and the years, and serve as lights in the dome of the sky, to illuminate the earth. And so it happened:
God made the two great lights, the greater one to govern the day, and the lesser one to govern the night, and the stars.
I truly believe our Master, Our Lord, in all His Triune Omnipresence did just as in written in these first fifteen versus of Genesis. It may not have happened quite as described, as we were simpler people back when life began here on this planet. But with all the scientific advances and our ever-expanding view of His universe, it is clear to me the incredible power of His ability to endlessly create things beyond our imagination, the stuff of stars and more. And every day I read His word I see more evidence of science confirming His Word in the Biblous, the Bible.
He ordered the Sol Star to warm us and give us life and the moon to control our tides. Where I rest now, at the very most western outer edge of the United States, the tide rose almost nine feet last night.
I will be on the beach this morning before old Sol rises.
Amidst the chaos of our planet, mostly caused by us, those created in His Image and Likeness, I find that He still rules. And He rules with an incredible beauty that no earth words can describe His immense endless creative creativity.
If only people would stop and open their eyes to His Greatness and hear what His Creation has to say with the chorus of the morning winged creatures and the constant symphony of the spring peepers.
I am convinced that I have moved to a place where His awesomeness is on constant display, from the tallest mountain in the continental United States, a strata volcano rising over fourteen thousand feet into the sky, to the endless streams and rivers full of trout, salmon and Lord knows how many creatures swim in those glacier fed streams.
I wish we would not only open our eyes and listen with our ears, but we would do His ultimate commands…
· Love Him!
· Love one another!
And perhaps then we can see and hear what He created for us.
Yes, for us. Clement
