Murderers are pardoned from prison. Millions of people live in fear for many reasons. Millions of people live in dread of being deported from lives they've established here in the supposed land of the free for decades or more. Many people live in anxiety for not being able to pay their rent. Many people cannot afford medications to keep them alive.
Now we panic the government will cut any aid further. Many people choose between gas and food. The incredibly rich get incredibly richer while the poor suffer more and more and get poorer and poorer.
I wonder what happened to…
Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door! The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation, Inc.
The demons of anxiety, depression, greed, hunger for power, dehumanization, fear, fear for one’s life or sanity or both and many other types run rampant now across what used to be the land of the free and the home of the brave. Our government is now full of them.
Psalm 85 this morning said…
Show us, O LORD, your mercy,
and grant us your salvation.
Near indeed is his salvation to those who fear him,
glory dwelling in our land.
Kindness and truth shall meet;
justice and peace shall kiss.
Truth shall spring out of the earth,
and justice shall look down from heaven.
The LORD himself will give his benefits;
our land shall yield its increase.
Justice shall walk before him,
and salvation, along the way of his steps.
Oh, how I hope this will come to be even though through financial hardship and another bout with the big ‘C’, I find hope very hard to find. I know I cannot see it, otherwise it would not be hope. But as I plead for Divine Grace (or help), it eludes me.
But this will not stop me from believing, even if I feel I have no hope. There is still faith and mostly there is still love.
Even though I am tempted to just give up on my faith, I will never give up love, though most have abandoned me who once loved me.
I have come to understand the true meaning of these words from The Biblous (Greek), The Book, the Bible.
As our Master stood before the Sanhedrin the night before they killed Him, accused falsely of so many things, He just remained silent.
I know now why He did it and it is a testimony to ‘silence cannot be misquoted’. This is the most powerful example in all of human history.
And now I finally understood and feel why He said, “My God, My God – why have You abandoned me?”
I have lost a lot of faith, but never in Him, my Jewish Boss, Our Master.
Out here in the Great Pacific Northwest, it is the season of mist, be it light, medium, or heavy. Above six thousand feet the snow builds in feet not inches. People have a tendency as they move about their day to have their heads down mostly because there is a hood covering it shedding some of the rain. They often looked down and depressed. But I have found they or not. It is just the rain.

Clement’s Newsletter is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber. There are so many in greater need I want to help.
As a person with a handicap that is somewhat obvious I often see the kindness in others. Out of the blue they offer to help. Like when I'm grocery shopping. Total strangers will come up and say, “Can I help you?“ Store employees often looking dour because of the way they're exploited by their employers, will suddenly turn a smile towards me and help me with whatever I need.
I thank God for their kindness. As my spirit wallows, they lift me.
There is hope.
And there is certainly love.
And if love is the only thing I must hold to, that I will do.
I love God. And I will love every other single human.
But I will not support the dehumanization of America that occurs now and how awful it impacts me in real ways. I will find the voice for those in greater need and their rights as human beings created in His Image and Likeness.
I will find a way, though I do not know how.
I just know that He will help.
