Overlook the Flaws
There may be several reasons why it might be a bit easier for me to overlook the ‘flaws’ in others. Maybe it’s because I ran companies with maybe thirty up to thousands of employees. Maybe it’s because I had kids.
It’s probably because I have so many flaws of my own.
The biggest reason is that Someone forgave me and forgives me my flaws. To quote our dear Pope Francis, “Who am I to judge?” I figured out a long long time ago that there is only One true Judge.
Flaws you perceive as a failing in another? Perhaps the person just does things differently than you.
We must be on constant guard, though, against character flaws in ourselves, though AGAIN, we are not the ones to judge these things in others.
Character flaws are those things like: Arrogance or vanity, conceited or self-righteous, narcissistic or self-centered, libidinous or having excessive desire, predatory, excessive pride, deluded, boastful…
Google mentioned at least seventy more; however, these probably give a decent picture.
Somebody larger than life itself, Who indeed is the Creator of not just all life but every single thing down to the tiniest quark, Someone who is our One true Lord, Master, Savior and our God in all His Magnificent, absolute Holiness and Omnipresence Triune-ness.
Forgave us our flaws.
I think the least we can do…
… is the same for others.
This is the epitome of our two primary commandments:
1) Love God
2) Love every other single one created in His Image and Likeness – no exceptions – even, as He said, our enemies.
After all, who are we to judge?
Clement
I call heaven and earth today to witness against you:
I have set before you life and death,
the blessing and the curse.
Choose life, then,
that you and your descendants may live, by loving the LORD, your God,
heeding his voice, and holding fast to him.
Moses
